Jing'an Temple

静安寺

Jing'an Temple is a working Chan Buddhist temple on West Nanjing Road in Jing'an, directly above the metro station of the same name. Its golden halls, including the modern reconstruction of Mahavira Hall, stand out among the surrounding office towers and malls. Worshippers come to light incense, while visitors often stop to see an active temple in a busy shopping area. Entry costs about ¥50 per person on regular days, and is free on the 1st and 15th of each lunar month. Plan for about an hour.
