Zhujiajiao Ancient Town

朱家角古镇

Zhujiajiao Ancient Town is a 1,700-year-old canal town in Qingpu, the easiest water-town day trip from central Shanghai: Metro Line 17 from Hongqiao Railway Station gets you to Zhujiajiao station in about 35 minutes, then it is a 15-minute walk. Entry to the lanes and stone bridges is free; a combo ticket for the gardens, temples and small museums costs roughly 45 to 80 RMB, and hand-rowed boats tour the canals for a per-boat fee. Weekday mornings feel like another century; summer weekends feel like a festival.

Shanghai Yintao Golf

上海银涛高尔夫俱乐部

Shanghai Yintao Golf Club is a tournament-grade 18-hole course in Xujing, Qingpu, about 45 minutes west of the centre and handy for Hongqiao. The layout, credited to Peter Thomson, runs to championship length and carries a vapour-illumination system for night rounds, a rarity around the city. Beyond golf, members and visitors use a restaurant, indoor heated pool, hot-spring and massage pools, sauna and locker rooms, so a round easily turns into a half-day. The western location suits residents near Hongqiao who want a full-length course without a long drive.

Qushui Garden

曲水园

Qushui Garden is one of Shanghai's five surviving classical gardens, first laid out in 1745 during the Qing dynasty, in the old town of Qingpu west of the city. It is small, intimate and quietly beautiful, with a lotus pond, a stone bridge, pavilions and old trees, and it has been free to enter since August 2022. Osmanthus opens here in early November, a little after central Shanghai, making it a peaceful late-season stop. Reach it via Metro Line 17 to Qingpu New City, then a short taxi.
