Qushui Garden
Qushui Garden is one of Shanghai's five surviving classical gardens, first laid out in 1745 during the Qing dynasty, in the old town of Qingpu west of the city. It is small, intimate and quietly beautiful, with a lotus pond, a stone bridge, pavilions and old trees, and it has been free to enter since August 2022. Osmanthus opens here in early November, a little after central Shanghai, making it a peaceful late-season stop. Reach it via Metro Line 17 to Qingpu New City, then a short taxi.
