Yu Garden

豫园

Yu Garden is a classical Ming-dynasty Chinese garden in Huangpu District, set in Shanghai's old city core beside the City God Temple. Laid out in the 1500s, it folds rockeries, koi ponds, pavilions, and dragon-crested walls into a compact plot reached through the surrounding Yuyuan bazaar. Entry costs ¥40 from April to June and September to November, and ¥30 in other months; seniors over 60 and visitors aged 6 to 18 pay half, and small children enter free. The garden opens 09:00 to 16:30 daily except Mondays, with ticket sales ending at 16:00. Arrive early, since tour groups tend to fill the narrow corridors by mid-morning.
