Shanghai Museum East

Shanghai Museum East (上海博物馆东馆) is the vast new Pudong wing of the Shanghai Museum, on Century Avenue near the Science and Technology Museum metro. Opened in stages from 2024, it spreads the collection of bronzes, ceramics, jade, painting and calligraphy across bright modern galleries with room to breathe. General admission is free and individual visitors can walk in without a reservation, though special exhibitions may charge and book out. Give yourself half a day; it is far larger than the original People's Square building. Closed Tuesdays.
