Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre

Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre is a major public theatre company on Anfu Road in Xuhui, a short walk from Wukang Road. Since 1995, it has staged more than fifty productions a year across three venues: the 530-seat Arts Theatre, the intimate Drama Salon, and the experimental Studio D6. The programme spans Chinese-language plays, adaptations of international work, and the annual ACT Shanghai International Theatre Festival. Most performances are in Mandarin, so check the listing before booking. Tickets usually run about ¥80 to ¥380, and the tree-lined block outside is worth a stroll.
