Shanghai Botanical Garden

Shanghai Botanical Garden is a large public garden on Longwu Road in Xuhui, covering about 81 hectares with collections of bonsai, magnolia, and azalea, plus conservatory greenhouses. Admission to the main garden has been free since January 2022, no booking needed, but the greenhouses and seasonal flower shows charge separately. Gates open early, from 06:00 at Gate 3, making it a calm spot for a morning walk before the heat. Allow half a day; take the metro to Shanghai South Railway Station or Shilong Road.
