Shanghai Jiao Tong University, known as SJTU, is a public research university with roots dating to 1896. Its main campus spreads across a large green site at 800 Dongchuan Road in Minhang District, while a historic campus remains on Huashan Road in Xuhui. The Minhang grounds hold lakes, tree-lined avenues, and period buildings that draw visitors and prospective students. The nearest metro to the main campus is Dongchuan Road on line 5, reached by changing to that line at Xinzhuang.
