Shanghai Culture Square

Shanghai Culture Square is a large musical theatre on Fuxing Middle Road in Huangpu, built partly below ground with a sweeping fan-shaped auditorium of just over 2,000 seats. Reopened in 2011 on a historic site, it centres on musicals, staging touring and home-grown productions from Notre Dame de Paris to The Phantom of the Opera, plus concerts and family shows. Tickets usually run from around ¥180 to ¥880 per person. The sunken garden outside is a pleasant spot to arrive early. Nearest metro: Shaanxi South Road.
