Metal Hands is a specialty coffee shop at 234 Nanchang Lu in Huangpu, a calm block near Xintiandi. The concrete-and-wood interior, with its skylight and greenery, is as thoughtful as the coffee. It's one of the few mainland China cafes to land on a global specialty coffee ranking. Order a dirty, espresso poured over cold milk, or a seasonal riff like the cinnamon poached-egg latte (yes, that's a thing) or pistachio dirty. Come for a serious cup, stay for a second in a room made for lingering.
