Jia Jia Tang Bao is a made-to-order xiaolongbao shop on Huanghe Road food street, two minutes from People's Square. Open since 1986 and now at No.127 after moving across the street, it steams each basket only after you order, so the soup inside arrives scalding and the skins stay thin. Pork baskets run around 25 RMB for 12, crab roe versions around 38-60 RMB. Order and pay at the counter, share a table, and go before noon if you want the crab ones, they sell out.
