China Art Museum

中华艺术宫

China Art Museum is Shanghai's municipal art museum, housed in the former China Pavilion of the 2010 World Expo at 205 Shangnan Road in Pudong. The permanent collection of modern and contemporary Chinese art is free, special exhibitions are 20 RMB, and the scale of the building means it rarely feels crowded on a weekday. Individual visitors book a timed slot at least two days ahead, choosing from seven hourly windows between 10:00 and 17:00, and can add up to five companions per booking. It opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 with last entry at 17:00, and closes on Mondays outside public holidays. China Art Museum station on Metro Line 8 is at the door.
