Longhua Temple

龙华寺

Longhua Temple is a working Buddhist temple and monastery in Xuhui, one of Shanghai's oldest, founded in the third century. It includes a cluster of halls, a bell tower, and the neighboring Longhua Pagoda, arranged along a north-south axis. Entry is free; a bundle of incense costs about ¥20. Monks hold daily services, and the grounds are lively during the spring temple fair and New Year bell-ringing ceremony. A vegetarian dining hall and small shops are near the entrance. Take Metro Line 11 or 12 to Longhua Station.
