K11 Art Mall is an art-themed shopping centre on Huaihai Zhong Lu in Huangpu, the one with the sculptural atrium and the rotating exhibitions in the basement gallery. It opened in 2013 as the first mall in the mainland built around an art programme, and it still works better as an afternoon than as a shopping errand: come for whatever is showing, stay for the upper-floor restaurants. Retail runs upscale and international. It is a short walk from Huangpi Nan Lu station, and a reliable place to take someone when the weather has ruined your other plans.
