Jade Buddha Temple
玉佛禅寺
Jade Buddha Temple is a working Buddhist monastery at 170 Anyuan Road in Putuo, founded in 1882 around two Buddha figures carved from Burmese white jade. The seated jade Buddha upstairs is the reason most people come, and the temple keeps its own vegetarian hall and a well-known line of pure-vegetarian mooncakes. Entry runs about 20 RMB, with a small extra charge to see the jade chamber. It opens daily from 08:00 to 16:30 and fills up on Buddhist observance days, so arrive early on those.
